By the end of 1978 Gates and Allen made more than $1 million because of the software they made for the Altair 8800. So with this new money they move there headquarters from Albuquerque to Bellevue Washington. After moving Gates and Allen started to work on MS-DOS for IBM's first personal computer.

In 1983 Allen left Microsoft because he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Allen was successfully treated but he didn't return to Microsoft instead he did various other jobs.

In 1985 Microsoft made a new operating system called Windows. Window included features such as drop-down menus, scroll bars and various other features. The year after Windows was made Gates moved headquarters to Redmond Washington and went public with Windows selling $61 million. By the late 80s Microsoft took over the mantle of the world’s biggest personal-computer software company based on their sales.

Windows 95 debuted in 1995 while the sales of personal computers skyrocketed. Windows 95 had a new feature of the Start menu. In TV commercials Microsoft had the Rolling Stones sing Start Me Up. Windows 95 had sold 7 million copies in the first five weeks.
Internet Explorer And X-Box
In 1995 Microsoft released Internet Explorer there very own web browser. Then in 2001 Microsoft came into the world of gaming with their X-Box.
